Info:DUST is Computer's Killer

DUST is Computer's Killer

Dust is small, divided portions of solid matter that has become airborne.

In a household, dust typically consists of dead skin. Dust in the workplace can be metal, wood or plastic, based depending on the type of environment. Dust is created at home by the shedding of dead skin and in the workplace by any industrial work or movement of office items.

Dust particles range in size from micrometers to several centimeters if allowed to collect into groupings. It can carry moisture, chemicals and inorganic elements and moves as the air flows.

A computer functions on electricity. Its inner circuitry must function within a specific temperature and in an environment void of moisture. If the heat is too great, circuits will overheat and malfunction. To alleviate this problem, many computers use built-in cooling fans. If there is moisture, electricity will not flow as it should and will short-out.

When dust gathers, it begins to block the fan from cooling off the internal components of the computer. Eventually, the circuits begin to overheat and malfunction. As dust also carries moisture, when it comes in contact with the metal connectors of some circuitry, it shorts out the electrical flow. This will cause glitches in your computer's response to any request or device.

Dust also can block connectivity between the adapter cards in the computer. It will settle in the slots for RAM chips and expansion boards and create a gap in the electrical metal connectors of computer to component boards.

Many devices are also damaged by the presence of dust in a computer. Mice and keyboards tend to short-out when dust is blocking the keys or button-clicks. CD-ROMs and other optical laser drives can suffer from jammed doors due to buildup of dust within the gears. The airborne particles can also cause blockage on the optical drive's laser, creating misreads on CDs and DVDs.

Info:The Ways to Take Care Laptop Battery

Modern laptop batteries are capable of providing hours of time away from a power socket, but repeatedly charging and discharging causes the capacity of any battery to dwindle. However, there are some preventative measures which can prolong the useful lifespan of a laptop battery.

Below are some tips to Care to your Notebook Battery:

1. Discharge the battery and do not keep it at full charge unless a full charge is needed. Lithium-Ion batteries react poorly to being kept at full charge for long periods of time, resulting in a battery which will quickly lose its life. The worst possible situation is to keep a battery in a laptop while it is being used on AC or DC power--always take the battery out in these situations.

2. Reduce the heat which surrounds the laptop battery. Heat increases the rate at which the battery ages, resulting in a lower useful lifespan. In home usage, this means keeping the laptop from sitting on carpet, upholstered furniture, blankets and any other insulator which will cause the laptop's internal temperature to rise.

3. Avoid a usage pattern which relies on discharging and recharging the entire battery if possible. Full charges can reduce lifespan by themselves, but a pattern of full discharges followed by full recharges can cause a further acceleration in the reduction of useful lifespan.

4. Occasionally allow the battery to be fully discharged and then charged back to full. While this is bad for the battery if done frequently, it is a requirement for keeping an accurate gauge of battery life. The digital gauges used by notebooks to track how much run time is left in a battery become less and less accurate as the battery is partially charged and discharged. A full discharge and recharge every twenty to thirty uses will resolve the issue.

5. Store the laptop in a cool place while it is not in use and ensure it is not constantly connected to a wall socket. This circles back around to the issues of heat and charge levels. Note, however, that a lithium-ion battery should never be stored at near or below freezing.

Good Luck Everyone!!!

Funny: Do you want this ?

Do you think this is good for you? ? ?
Would you going to have one ?

Do you think this is good for you? ? ?

Yeah!!!!! I'm Lovi'n IT!!!!!

Funny: Do you ever think about the your computer casing can be like this ???

Is this a great idea for you to setup your BBQ dinner ? wooooooohooooooooo!!! Yummy Grilled meat!!!!

Now you do realize that your old computer casing is useful, don't you?

Info:How to Ground Yourself to Avoid Destroying a Computer with Electrostatic Discharge

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) is a fancy term for common static electricity. Getting a shock from the doorknob may not hurt you much, but the same kind of shock can put your computer in intensive care. Whenever you open the case to work on your PC's innards, you should be aware of ESD and how to avoid it.

Please follow the steps below:

1. It is a good idea to buy an anti-static wristband, and follow the instructions for use.(They are sold at most electronics stores.) If you are going to do quite a lot of bench work, you might do well to invest in an anti-static mat

2. If you don't have a wristband, you are not necessarily out of luck. Assuming that your PC is grounded, you can ground yourself by just keeping one hand in contact with the bare metal frame (not a painted or coated surface) of the computer case. Keep the PC power cord plugged in to a (3-prong) grounded outlet and turn off the rocker switch on the back of the power supply. If the power supply does not have a switch on the back, this won't work, however. Never work on a PC with the power on. In that case, you should buy an anti-static band or try another method of grounding

3. As an alternative, alter a standard 3-conductor power cord by snipping off the two flat blades, leaving only the grounding portion of the plug. Or simply purchase a cord like this from an electronics supply house. This accomplishes the same thing as turning off the rocker switch.

4. You can employ an LCD Static Discharger. As a simple measure, you can hang it on your key ring and just dangle it. This is less reliable, but when it touches a ground, it should discharge the static electricity. Procedure:①Lightly touch the oval button with a finger. ②Make sure that the end of the conductive material touches a grounded conductor. (such as vehicle, human body, computer, metal or other) to release static electricity, and observe the LCD display.

Here is some tips:

a. The average person can carry up to 25,000 volts of static energy at any given time. This sounds like a lot, but because the current level is low, you usually won't notice it. Just because you touched the dog's nose and he didn't yelp, it doesn't mean you are safe from ESD. Follow safe ESD procedures any time you open a computer.

b. If the equipment is cold, wait until it has reached room temperature. ESD builds up much faster when it's cold and dry (low humidity).

Info: Upload Files to Another Computer Using FTP Program.

What is FTP?

FTP is Files transfer Protocol and you can use it to upload software, music files or any other type of digital information.
FTP refers to an Internet protocol and is also the name used for software applications that perform this function.

Here is the way that you can follow:

Step 1
Select this option if you are uploading files to a remote computer that does not permit Web browser uploads. This is often the case if you are uploading files to a Web site for which you have purchased storage.

Step 2
Open your FTP program. Enter the host address in the space provided.

Step 3
Enter your login ID and your password. If the remote computer is configured to allow Anonymous FTP, you may be able to login without a password or by using "guest."

Step 4
Click Connect.

Step 5
You will see two windows containing a list of folders and files when the connection is established. The window on the right represents the folders on the remote computer. The window on the left represents the folders on your hard disk.

Step 6
Move around in the left-hand window until you have located and opened the folder in which your uploaded file is to be stored.

Step 7
Move around in the window in the left-hand side until you have found and selected the file that is to be uploaded.

Step 8
Drag the selected file over to the window on the right. Most FTP programs will allow you to upload this way. If your FTP software doesn't allow this, consult the help file for uploading instructions.

Step 9
Check that the file is listed with the other files on the right-hand side when the file is uploaded.

Try it on !!!!Yeah!!!!

Info: How to boot by using a USB?

Before emergence of jump drives, floppy disks were the best and most popular way to boot programs outside of an operating system. But USB jump drives have made floppy disks all but obsolete. USB drives are faster, more reliable and offer much more storage space than floppy disks. And booting from your USB drive only takes a couple of quick adjustments to your computer's BIOS---your computer's essential list of boot commands. Read on to find out more.

So, Here are some step to get it done. But what you need is a USB Jump Drive!!

1. Insert your USB jump drive into a USB port on the computer containing the bootable program. Copy the information to your jump drive, then insert the drive into a USB port on the computer you wish to boot the program from.

2. Power on the computer. When the computer begins displaying its startup information, hit the key indicated on screen to enter the computer's BIOS (the "F1" or "Delete" keys are commonly used to access the BIOS).

3. Browse through the menu options in the BIOS to locate the computer's startup and booting options to locate the "CMOS" menu, which is where you'll have the option to set which devices will boot at startup.

4. Browse though the list of bootable option---they'll be ordered as "First Boot Device," "Second Boot Device" and so on. Set the USB jump drive as the first bootable option---your BIOS may refer to the drive as a "USB Removable Floppy Disk."

5. Save and exit the BIOS. When your computer restarts, your program will boot first before your operating system.

News: Hot Gadget Preview for the 2010 Holiday Season

by Robert S. Anthony
Jul 20, 2010 10:26 am

New York hasn't been able to shake off a long-running heat wave, but the technology displayed at a recent Holiday Gift Guide Media Event in the city offered journalists a peek at some cool high-tech hopefuls that may catch the eye of the buying public come the winter-holiday shopping season. Though many of the products on show are available now, others are still months away from endangering your credit card. The event was organized by AdVance Public Relations and Gift List Media.

Following are some of the most interesting products spotted at the holiday-gear preview. For a slideshow summary of the products here, see "Sneak Peek at Hot High-Tech Gadgets for the 2010 Holiday Season."

Verbatim Wallet Drive

Portable hard drives are usually dull devices, and would hardly pass as conversation starters. Verbatim's stylish Wallet Drive, with its stitched leather casing, just might turn some heads. With only a small socket for a USB cable giving away its true identity, the Wallet Drive, available in August for about $130 for a 500GB model, offers a professional, subdued look that would be at home on the desk of a busy executive. A 640GB version is also in the works, according to Verbatim. Included with the Wallet Drive is Turbo USB software, as well as Nero BackItUp & Burn software.

General Electric Power X5

General Electric may not come to mind when you think of digital photography, but that could change. GE, which just got out of the television network business, is doubling down on cameras. The company is introducing a line of affordable digital cameras, including the professional-looking, 14-megapixel Power Pro X5. (The GE cameras are made by General Imaging, which licenses the General Electric name and logo.) The X5 comes with a 15X-optical-zoom lens, a 2.7-inch rear LCD screen, a top shutter speed of 1/2000 second, image-stabilization technology, and ISO sensitivity ratings up to 3200--yet it retails for just $180.

The camera's 5.7X digital zoom increases the maximum effective zoom to 85.5X; the X5 also supports smile, face, and blink detection, all of which can come in handy for candid shots. Equipped with a pop-up flash, it can capture video too, but only up to 640 by 480 pixels (a long way from HD quality). In addition to offering 18MB of internal memory, the camera accepts SD or SDHC cards up to 16GB.

Energizer Recharge Smart Charger

Battery chargers can be frustrating devices with their uninformative blinking or steady lights; usually chargers don't give enough feedback for you to know how much power your batteries contain should you yank them out before the charging cycle has completed.

Info: what is Biometric ?

What is Biometric??

Biometrics is the ability to identify a person by a physical characteristic such as fingerprints or retinal scans. This has had several applications in security and has been used by the federal government. It has become popular because of its many advantages over traditional security systems such as passwords and pin numbers.

Uniqueness

One of the difficulties of security is the ability for more than one person to possess a password. People can share it voluntarily or it can be stolen. A person's fingerprint cannot be shared easily or stolen and no one else has an exact match to yours. This technology is useful for corporate America where a hacked password could cost millions in profits and revenue.

No Forgotten Passwords
Another problem that many companies have is people forgetting their passwords. In this era of website log-ins, everyone has different passwords for everything from email to banking. This can make it difficult for people to remember every one even if they use it regularly. Biometrics never have to be remembered and can never be forgotten as they are a physical characteristic of the person.

Accountability
A biometric reading unequivocally attaches a person to an event. If there is a security breach or something is stolen, police and security have an accurate record of who was last in that location or had access to a specific computer. Since biometrics cannot be easily forged, there can be little defense of a hacked password or saying it was not you.

How to reinstall the computer Registry

The Microsoft Windows Registry is a data file used by the operating system to store important hardware and software operating data. Information such as install paths, hardware variables and startup options are located in this file. Over time this file may become corrupt or out of date and require reinstallation and recovery. Microsoft has streamlined this process, due to the importance of the registry, so that virtually any computer user can accomplish the task.

What you need to do to reinstall the registry is :-

Restart the computer.

Press the "F8" key when prompted with "Please select the operating system to start."

Use the up and down arrow keys to navigate the highlighted cursor to the "Last known good configuration" and press the "Enter" key.

Use the up and down arrow keys to move the highlighted cursor to the operating system version to which you wish to boot.

Press the "Enter" key. This reinstalls an earlier version of the registry from the last known good configuration that Microsoft Windows has recorded as working.

This reinstalls all registry keys that were current on the date of that configuration and removes all subsequently entered keys that were not in the registry at that time

Info: Printer Maintenance tips

It is important you keep the printer heads clean. This stops ink clogging the nozzles of the printer, and reduces ink smudge on the paper. This is important for HP and Lexmark printers, as they don’t always do the best automatic clean.

To clean the print heads, remove the cartridge, and gently clean the print heads with a soft cotton cloth dipped in a little water. Please do not use tissue or alcohol. It will damage the printer indeed. Please be careful on this.

Please make sure the print heads are dry and then replace the cartridge. By doing this you can be able to expand your printer life and the quality of printing.

Do remember to prevent the printer from drying up ink, then use it often.

If you use your printer regular this will prevent ink drying up and keep the printer and ink in good condition. Use both Colour and black and white prints weekly to stop the nozzles on your printer getting clogged up, or the ink to simply dry up.

Be careful with printer jams

Don’t ram the paper out if you have a paper jam. Look at guides on the manufactures site, if you don’t have time to do that, remember that you want to get the paper out smoothly. Most HP Printers have a hatch attached at the back that can be removed. You will then have access to the paper wheels, and you should be able to see the paper that is jammed in there. Remove the paper this way, and it is unlikely that you will damage the printer.

Power down correctly

Turn your printer off when not in use. This can prevent drying of ink and also help keep the printer functioning at high quality. Remember to use the printers power button, and them remove at the plug if need be. Don’t power off if you are in the middle of something. These will just cause problems for you.

Clean your printer but don’t over do it

IF you perform print ink clean by software or your printer’s hardware, do it once and not over and over. Doing this over and over can cause more damage than good. Clean your printer’s encoder strip monthly to stop quality issues at a later date. Remember if you have low ink to replace immediately. This prevents ink being left in the printer heads and nozzles, and will generally give your printer more life.

Latest News: Mozilla Launches Firefox 4 Beta

Jul 07, 2010 06:10 am
A new look and a sizable pile of new features
by James Mulroy

Don't look now, but here comes the newest version of Firefox. Today, Mozilla launched Firefox 4 Beta, which introduces a new look and a sizable pile of new features.

With Firefox 4 Beta, Mozilla introduces a brand new interface. It takes cues from Google Chrome and other browsers by placing the tabs on top by default (in Windows only; it'll come to Mac OS and Linux later on), and hiding the menubar (instead, a new Firefox button provides access to commonly used commands).

Like other new browsers, Firefox 4 Beta provides some crash protection features: If a browser plugin crashes, it'll just bring down the plugin instead of causing the entire browser to crash.

Firefox 4 Beta also features bolstered HTML5 support, adds full WebGL support for 3D rendering within the browser (though it's disabled by default at this time), and adds support for Google's new WebM video format.

Feeling daring? Visit the Firefox 4 Beta 1 download page and check it out. And if you've already taken Firefox 4 Beta for a spin, share your thoughts and post a comment.
